CHIP - Community HOME Investment Program
The purpose of the Community HOME Investment Program (CHIP) is to provide safe, decent, and affordable housing in Georgia by granting funds to city and county governments, public housing authorities, and nonprofits to rehabilitate owner-occupied homes and build and renovate affordable single family homes for sale to eligible homebuyers.
Funding Source
The CHIP program is funded with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development HOME Investment Partnership Program funds.
Eligible Applicants
The CHIP program is not provided directly to individual homeowners and homebuyers. If you are a homeowner in need of financial assistance for home repairs to your home, please call the number below.
Eligible CHIP grant applicants include local governments, nonprofits with 501(c)3/(c)4 designation, and public housing authorities.
Activities and Funding Amounts
Housing rehabilitation of owner-occupied homes: grants up to $300,000
New construction and/or rehabilitation of homes for sale to eligible homebuyers: grants up to $600,000
Combined housing rehabilitation of owner-occupied homes and new construction and/or rehabilitation of homes for sale to eligible homebuyers: grants up to $600,000
Administration: up to 2% of grant amount (i.e. $6,000 for $300,000 grants and $12,000 for $600,000 grants)
Annual Grant Schedule
Application Release: September 1
Application Deadline: December 1
